Chevrolet Corvette

Questions: 1980 corvette..good alternator, polite battery..once jump off, the the plunger gradually shows discharge till buried on the disappeared side. two questions. where on earth exactly is the voltage regulator, should there be any other wires going directly to the freestyle?

Here is a charging systems diagram for a 1983 Vette. (I think they are the same) I believe the regulator is internal to the alternator. There are several fusable links that may be blown, They are special wires that stroke like fuses and I would check adjectives the connecions for corrosion. There is a test hole on the rear legs of the alternator. It is D shaped. If you put a small screwdriver in the hole and short the contact contained by the center to the case, it will turn the alternator on full.
